Logistics Overview

Logistics is the harmonised system of demand and supply chains. These two chain systems cannot be considered as standalone systems. They are highly interdependent networks of links that collectively provide the range of the strengths and weaknesses of the chain systems. Only when all of the network links are harmonised into a robust web, can a true value-added and lean system be obtained. If they are not harmonised, a sub-optimal outcome should be expected.

In this context, logistics is the set of disciplines that can design, manufacture, operate, maintain, and support a product from its concept through to the end of the product's life, and have the means to keep the product performing throughout its life, with integrity. This through life approach is necessary if the total cost of ownership is to be managed and reduced. But, you need to have someone who knows how to think in this paradigm - we can do that.
